I’d like to share with you why I still use what I consider to be one of my best all natural lotions.
My Original Favorite
Even though I’ve purchased a few new and different lotions that I am pretty excited about, this one is still on my top shelf at home. I am in the middle of doing some product testing and plan to report the results to you soon, but let me tell you about this hand and body lotion that has been my go-to lotion for several years.
Cashmere Bath Hand & Body Lotion
First, the company is very special. They are a family company that was started in 1999 by two sisters who began by making soaps and have since expanded their line to include a variety of lotions, body mists, bath fizzies (what fun!), scrubs, oils, and more. I am all about supporting small businesses that bring their unique talents to the market, contribute to the community, and that you cannot find anywhere else.
I have to admit, I am hooked on their Lavender Hand and Body Lotion and I have been using it for over 5 years. That’s not to say that I don’t still look for other body lotions, probably will never stop, it’s just that when you find a good one, you stick with it.
I used to buy their lotion from a retail store but the store stopped carrying it. I thought, okay, I’ll just try a different lotion. Wrong. Every other bottle, tube, and jar on the shelf included preservatives and harmful chemicals that I vowed never to buy again (and I was at a health food store!). Their lotion was the only one on the shelf that I felt safe using and my local source was gone. I actually got a little panicky about it until I remembered I could go online…which started me down the path of searching and finding all natural body lotions I loved and trusted. And sometimes, you just want a little variety, right?
To Be Fair – This Lotion Is Intense
Fair warning – this lotion is thick, sometimes too thick to spread easily over large areas of your body, but I have a solution for that. I simply wet my hands a little, rub them together until the lotion reaches a thinner consistency, and then it spreads beautifully for those bigger body parts!
Another note, this lotion is heavier, slightly greasy at first, and then it sinks in and does its magic. When you’ve spent the day cleaning and scrubbing the house and your hands are feeling unloved and neglected, this is the one you want. It is not my first choice for those times I want something lighter, or when I know I don’t have time to wait for the lotion on my hands to gradually absorb before I go touching everything. But sometimes I just use it anyway because I love the scent so much, especially right before bed, or when I could use a little soothing after a hard day (and isn’t that, like, every day??).
It is also worth mentioning that this all natural lotion is paraben free, gluten free, and they advertise no animal testing right on the label. Good to know!
One of the reasons I am so addicted to this lotion is because the lavender scent is rather strong. If you are not into a strong scent, this may be an issue for you. What is good, however, is that the scent does not linger like a perfume, and it eventually fades over time. After I have applied it to my hands, before the scent has a chance to escape, I will often cup my hands under my nose and inhale slowly, this allows the essential oils from the lavender to work its magic.
Ingredients That Will Help You Relax and Soothe Your Skin
Lavender is known to help with restlessness and anxiety, hence, it is perfect in helping to calm your body and mind to prepare for sleep. And, it has no side effects! I am a BIG fan of natural remedies to battle stress. I also think this lotion is pretty special because when I spread it all over, like right after a bath, I simply feel pampered. In future posts, I will talk about the benefits of lavender, as well as many other ingredients that are worth considering when choosing a lotion that is right for you.
What if you don’t like lavender? Well then, I’m not sure we can be friends. No. Just kidding!
Cashmere Bath has plenty of other scents to please anybody’s nose – Patchouli, Orange Ginger, Chamomile, Coconut, Almond, and more. And yes, even Unscented (if you must!). All of these scents come from the essential oils in the ingredients, and each one offers its own unique advantages in soothing the soul.
Another reason I love their lotion, is because it contains so many ingredients that help heal dry skin and retain elasticity, just to mention a few – coconut milk, cocoa and shea butters, olive oil, avocado oil, and Moroccan argan oil – all of which include vitamins A, E, and F.
Cashmere Bath’s website will tell you that Moroccan Argan Oil is known to have medicinal properties by promoting cell renewal, preserving skin elasticity, and it is high in Vitamin E, which moisturizes, heals, and contains powerful antioxidants.
This hand and body lotion not only feels good, it is good for you! But, there is one more perk I’d like to share.
You Can Buy Soap and Save the Bees!
If I haven’t already convinced you to give this lotion or the company’s products a try, I’ve got to tell you
about the cool way they package their soaps.
Cashmere Bath soaps are packaged in seed paper, meaning the paper itself contains seeds for wildflowers. The company is on a mission to save the bees, and they have a neat little video showing you how they package the soaps. Isn’t that awesome? I’m a sucker for good causes.
